Offical Australian LFS Website
I have been thinking why dont we have our own offical LFS website yet..
This website could also be added to http://www.lfs.net/?page=links#local with a web address like
http://www.liveforspeed.com.au or similar.
It would feature
Current leagues running (AAL, MNR, LFSEA, others)
News
team information
Race results
Gallery
Videos
shoutbox
Hall of Fame
downloads
- skins
- replays
- addons
- setups
- ect
Forum
- forum for all LFS leagues/events
- Team forums if they do not have there own
- all the usual stuff.find.
And i remembered how i come across MNR and how i never knew about it till someone mentioned "MNR" and i asked what it was.
and then only came across ARSE and AAL because it was a link on MNR website.
I probly still wouldnt know what MNR,AAL,ARSE,LFSEA is unless it was for this person.
So i was thinking why not have a Offical Australian LFS website with all the teams and leagues running we have at the moment.
I think there is quite a number on Aussie LFS players that have no idea about these leagues (Like i did). So hopefully with this we could inform them and increase some grid sizes ect.
Just an Idea..

Yeap theres either 2 ways it would workNeilPearson wrote:instead of having it link to another forum, why not link it to here?
That way its not creating another community to build up, 99% of australian lfsers know about this site anyway
- All league discussion/sign up forum gets moved to this offical site
or
- Or the offical site links to all these forums.
I think if we could have everything in the one place that would be great but i dont think some leagues/events forums would be interested in doing that. which is fair enough.

The way I see it, LFS.com.au could be the front end, with the forum being, like, at the back. Do ya know what I mean?
LFS.com.au is it's own site in itself, but when you maybe click a link to the 'official Aussie LFS forum', maybe link it directly to here?
I know it would put other forums like the OzBees n MPR out, but in my opinion, ARSE is the aussie hub for sim racing, and all the info anyone could need is here.

I agree that ARSE is probably the all-round Australian forum for sim racing. However I think the other forums would still ideally want to exist if only for their own identity and administration. Most of the other series already post on ARSE to point back to their own forum sign-up pages for example.
I'd say the website would have to be current ideally with news articles, particularly around league events if the purpose is to attract more LFSers to league racing. Also posting up media (wallpapers, skins, movies) and setups etc as Arrow said is a great idea. Calendar of events is definitely a goer.
I'd then have a link to the forum from that 'front end' as Scottie puts it.
i'd volunteer on gfx or some minor coding, but I'm about to start work on a brand new website, and think it will take up a bit of time, so it might be better if I was a 'reserve' :P

yeah we ran joombla for http://www.filthymindsracing.com too, which hasnt been updated in yonks.. lol
if i was you arrow, i would contact either Norbs, Woodsy or Kev about setting up a private forum to discuss this and plan it out. I wouldnt just jump straight into it. I'd spend a few months planning and sharing ideas.
so, get that set up, get the relative people access to it, and get planning sunshine.

I'll pen-test it if the "owner" of the website gives me an official (I can sue you) letter of authority.

Just adding to this, perhaps lfs.com.au could include not only a link to the official Aussie LFS forum, but to the main sites and forums of the main leagues themselves? So from this main site you could choose to access the:Scottie wrote:The way I see it, LFS.com.au could be the front end, with the forum being, like, at the back. Do ya know what I mean?

And in time the:
- Formula Oz main site
- Formula Oz forum

I believe their criteria is that it must be your business name, trading name or a registered trade mark that you own. It is meant to be a preventative measure for domain squatters sitting on domains that should be available to legitimate australian commercial sites.Sambo wrote:dont mean to put a wrench in the cogs but...dont you have to be a registered Australian business in order to be eligible for a .au domain? obviously there are alternatives. but just checking..
I thought .org sites were much easier (and cheaper) to register and possibly more appropriate?

As Hz said, we ran ours website on joomla, makes it alot easier to update and run, not that any of us could be bothered doing it...
Hz did the graphics and i did the coding that was needed for it. I will put my hand up for help with the site, i have worked on a alot of websites, just plain HTML and ones using a CMS and PHP, i can also do flash animations and programs and things, so if you need something done let me know.
