Giro d'Italia 2011

Post by norbs »

Looking forward to the 1st grand tour of the year. Last night was the team time trial. HTC Highroad taking the win. Robbie McEwen looked good from the grainy video I saw. Tonight the real stuff starts. :)

Stage 2 finish last night was a shoot out between crowd fave Petacchi and the Manx Missile Cavendish. They were separated by a bees pube at the end, with Cav accusing Petacchi of swerving.

Great round up at Wade's site...

How good is this photo of Cipo....

Even the chick in the background is having as better look.

For those that don't know, Cipo, Mario Cipollini, was an awesome racer back in the 90's. I am pretty sure he was pulled over whilst motopacing (riding behind a car or motorbike) on the Autostrada! :eyepop: What a fucking champ!

LOL. I just like the way he does his own shit. But yeah, if I was made to choose between you and Cipo, I reckon Super Mario would get the nod, then I'd kill myself. :D

i have a man crush on Travis Pastrana, so i get it. I have no idea who Cipo is though. I know who Lance Armstrong is, i assume they know each other. Which means i sort of know Cipo via Armstrong. I assume Kevin Bacon knows him too.

A sad day indeed. :(

I fell asleep last night waiting for the web feed to kick off. When I woke up in my computer chair I bailed and went to bed. Glad I did now.

Sorry I didn't have time to post more of this. I was at work when I saw it and had to take off on a job.

I saw it live on Eurosport. I'm glad the kids were in the other room as some of the feed was quite shocking, almost Tom Pryce in the sense that it was quite clear that he is not going to make it.

Did you see it happen markus? I heard he was looking behind at the time and his pedal clipped a wall.

Nope, they showed only the aftermath, he was already lying on the ground.

What a tradegy, regardless of it happening to a cyclist it is very rare these days to see people loose their lives in any sport.
Such a sad story for all those inlvolved or who knew Wouter personally. R.I.P Wouter Weylandt.

Last nights stage up Zoncolan was epic!

What was even more epic was the guy running along side Contador with a piece of steak dangling off a stick!!!! I have to see if I can find a photo.

Edit: Screen cap of the TV.
