OK so been paying attention to the the first test all day so far and in the time it's taken to create this thread Brendon McCullum has changed the field 6 times, no wait 7, no 8...

Re: Cricket 2015/2016
I had no idea the 1st test was getting so close, let alone on today.
very quiet build up
Khawaja playing well. I picked him a few years ago as a future captain. Didnt happen, and wont now, but I love the way he plays

Our second innings was like watching a one day game. I hope that this summer settles the batting order. Khawaja is easy to watch while he bats. Maybe with his mate Warner as VC he's got a voice that will keep him in the side.

I do go back and forth on Murali though - I now feel he was not actually trying to cheat, unlike some of the Pakistanis, nor was he a total prick like Ranatunga, Gavaskar or Miandad.
He just went out there and bowled as the Cricket Administration allowed him to and never really understood what all the fuss was about. As any sportsman should he played to the umpire's decision and no one can ask for any more than that.
Now why those umpires made the decisions they did, well that is another topic, but probably should not be held against him and his legacy.
No one made much fuss about Brett Lee at any stage either and at times he really was just as bad.

Well yesterday was a joke. i know the field placing were bizarre and NZ dont have a great attack, but 400+ on day one. No wonder test cricket is dying.

It's dying if you move out of the big four teams, Australia, South Africa, India and England. But also there is a clear home ground advantage now days and if you lose the toss, most likely you lose the test. But NZ just lack everything! The bowlers lack the mongrel they need to put the batsman back in his box.

I enjoyed it. I worked from home and moved to the lounge room around 1.30pm. Hardly moved all afternoon. Was a great way to get paid to spend a day

Yeah, this is a slam-dunk draw.pixelboy wrote:Amazing spell from Stark..

I think there is justification for quite a bit of criticism for the groundsmen who have produced a wicket with little for the bowlers.

The pitch is crap no doubt but seems there is a batch of soft balls to which does nothing to help.

Ross Taylor did well knocking over a 112 year old record, most runs in Australia by a visiting batsman. He's only been off the field for 26 overs and in the heat, that's some staying power.

Lucky that Johnson retired, it was the only thing interesting about the end of that match, the draw was on the cards from day two.
Cricket is in very poor hands these days and the future of Test cricket is not looking good. It's been a bit of a tradition in recent times to go to Melbourne for Chrissie and then a bunch of the family go to the cricket on Boxing Day but I won't be in Melb this year and I really don't care that I won't get to the cricket.

This is exciting. Test match cricket doesn't need fixing but it does need better wickets to make it a contest. But the night session will add something to the game. It's still 90% normal test but 10% twist. IT's going to be good!

While all you lucky pricks (term of affection!) in Capital cities get to enjoy the first day in HD, as a regional Australian I am once again shafted - we might get it tomorrow, repeat might!
How fucking hard is it to roll it out for everyone - start the roll out a day earlier so 20% of the population does not get treated like shit for once.
I pay just as much (if not more) tax as every other c**t in this country yet this is the way we get thanked.
So fucking angry right now and there is not even a number I can call to lodge a complaint, Ch 9 do not even have a complaints department.
