Villeneuve was dropped by Williams too after his WDC wasn't he?
As was Mansell? Not sure on that one.

General F1 news
Villeneuve wasnt dumped, Williams changed colour scheme and dissapeared into the midfield which might be why you dont remember him there in 98

I initially thought they had dumped Frenzen in '98 as well, having won in San Marino... but I quickly realised the same fact, and edited :PEnforcer-J wrote:Villeneuve wasnt dumped, Williams changed colour scheme and dissapeared into the midfield which might be why you dont remember him there in 98

Mansell chose to go to Indy car in 1993. Maybe he jumped before being pushed? I don't know but I was shocked when he made the switch.

More money as well wasn't it?

Re: General F1 news
Hill got dumped due to Williams wanting a German connection so they could get the BMW engines. Mansell asked for more money and was denied. Williams have always had the attitude that the driver won because they were in a Williams, not the other way around.

But when you hit everything within a 15 mile radius and they hang their heads and yell "for fuck sake!", they don't credit for the driver being in a Williams then

He gave them the full Maldonardo experience. At least he is consistent.

He is going to send Williams broke! It looked like he was driving on dusty concrete.

He's giving De Crasherus (De Cesaris) a run for his money. At least Maldonado brought some coin with him. Williams might have to find some more!

There was a reliable GP2 driver there as well, he jumped in his car and did a proper demonstration!Vilante wrote:Surely the team knew they needed more than one car?

De Cesaris bought shit loads with him, he had Marlboro Italy backing him. Thats why he kept getting drives.
As much as i hate seeing guys pay to drive Maldonado has done something that Webber, Rosberg etc never did, and that is win a race for Williams. And its not like his car is a lot better than what they had.

Re: General F1 news
Maldonado is bloody fast. He's just inconsistent to a level not seen in modern F1 for a while (at least, not amongst drivers this quick). Despite obvious speed and monumental backing, he still spent four years in GP2! He tested a Minardi forever ago. I just don't think he's ever going to mature to the level he needs to. For all the headlines he got winning in Spain, he hasn't scored a point since. He seemingly blows Senna out of the water for pace and yet has only 2 points scoring places this year to Senna's six.
It's frustrating because he is so fast. He could have so many points by now but he has an uncanny habit of throwing them away. I'm not a fan at all. I like Senna but he's just not quick enough. Hopefully Bottas does the business when he gets the call up.

Re: General F1 news
Senna is quick enough I think - he just needs time in the car, his pace throughout the year has improved every single race and now he is heading to Spa where he has done extremely well in the past. Senna has massive potential I feel, I also have a soft spot for him , whereas Maldonado should be axed if only for the crap he pulled at Monaco on Perez. For a professional athlete to do that on the biggest stage of his respective sport is just not on.

Re: General F1 news
Maldonado is a tool. I didn't like him even before his first F1 race, he is a useless driver plus he didn't sign my autograph
