Vettel hasn't won for a whole year now. This is his best chance. If one of those Ferrari's doesn't win then the season is over.

Re: 2019 FORMULA 1 JOHNNIE WALKER BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
oh jeez
Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert has been killed in a crash at the Belgian Grand Prix, motorsport's governing body the FIA has said.
Looked like he lost it in eau rouge, hit the wall but was basically ok but then someone following t-boned him and pretty much cut the car in half.

It really was. Happened very quickly too. The driver that T-boned him had no chance to avoid at all.durbster wrote:I saw the footage and it's brutal. RIP.

Re: 2019 FORMULA 1 JOHNNIE WALKER BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
This video (footage and animations) shows very well what has happened.
As long as open-wheeled racing exists, this type of incident is possible.

Hamilton was in the midst of an interview when it happened. It caught his eye in a monitor. You could tell he knew it was bad.

Poor Norris, he deserved that 5th. It was good to see Albon looking racey, he showed more confidence in the car in the second half of the race than Gasly has all season.

Re: 2019 FORMULA 1 JOHNNIE WALKER BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
I think Albon's won his garage over with that performance, great stuff. Early on in the race I spotted him in 15th and thought he'd screwed it. I'd completely forgotten he'd started at the back
What I don't understand is why they don't reduce the length of the DRS zone. I thought they'd refine it over the years and it's always been too powerful here. More often than not, the pass is done way before the corner, sometimes with time to slot back onto the racing line. If they reduced it by 50-100 metres it'd surely add a bit more challenge.
Leclerc deserved that and it was good to see him doing it under pressure. Looks like he's broken Vettel now too...

Re: 2019 FORMULA 1 JOHNNIE WALKER BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
Maybe what they should do is have a sensor that closes the DRS when the cars are level (or maybe when the DRS'd car's front wheels pass the non DRS'd back wheels) so you get the effect to get alongside and then it's down to who brakes last.
Decent race. Albon really performed well.
Good to see Leclerc win at last. I think on that day of all days it would have been pretty heartless of Hamilton to get him at the last corner but I wouldn't have put it past him!

Something no one had mentioned yet, Renault are terrible with strategies. I can't believe they didn't pit Ricciardo a second time, they made him do 43 laps on the mediums. He was a sitting duck at the end.

I think most people have forgotten they're even on the grid! I'd get rid of Cyril. They've done nothing since he joined them. Strikes me as a bit of a Boulier.
