Westfield Clubman. 4AGE Toyota engine running twin soles carbs. T50 gearbox with Quaife internals connected to a Quaife lsd.
Needs some work. It’s 20 years old and needs a good tidy up. Came with spare engine, diff, bonnet, guards and boxes of bits and pieces. Should keep me occupied for a while.
Nice, I test drove a PRB many years ago inspired by the LX4 in LFS and kinda deluding myself into thinking I might be able to use it as an everyday car lol
On my list of cars I regularly consider finding a way to justify purchase, I think you've now had all of them apart from an Ariel Atom and a Mazda RX-8
But I can understand the latter given it's basically a financial timebomb.
A few moths ago I looked into the viability of fitting the 2.0 (would be a 2.5 if done though) from an NC into an RX8 as they share the same basic platform . Love the car, don’t want the engine. From what I read, it simply isn’t worth it as a conversion is just as difficult as putting any other engine in it so you might as well put a v6 or something in it. Would be a good project as I think the RX8 is on the cool wall.
As for the Atom, well yes but not in my budget. The Exocet now do a mk3 version (so takes the single donor NC) and that would be as close as I would ever get.
There aren't many NA or NBs left here now because as rock solid as they are, rust has sadly claimed most of them. I don't think that's as big a problem down under though is it, since you don't salt the roads.

The Abarth was my ND I guess (was NF iirc)so you could almost say this is #4
The NB is a replacement for the 7 and I have already done more kms in I than I did in the 7 in the 2 years I had it. Just easy and fun to drive. Being a 10AE helps me with wanting something a little unique among the other million MX5’s. 150 came to Australia.
I drove a friend's 90bhp NB (dunno if that engine was sold in Australia) and we established that despite it not having enough power, it was still possible to do doughnuts in it.

Wouldn’t be much more than that
The NB only came to au in 1.8. I I think you guys got 1.6 and 1.8 options.
Nice, Stu! God, I remember checking out one of those 10AE models at the Melbourne motor show many years ago when it used to be on at the same time as the grand prix.
Always liked the NB shape. A guy near my old work had an SP for a while that I was quite jealous of.

I miss my NB
Haha couldn’t get much worse
Speaking of worse, a hardtop for these in good condition is fetching $3k. Last Mx5 I had they were around $800 for a perfect one. Be nice to have a container of them that you forgot about.

Cheers Mick. An SP would be nice. Fetching stupid money now though. They only built them here and for targa originally. Not all of the 100 are left
