Re: Formula E
I just saw the last 12 laps or so. It's a bit odd. It's like watching F3 with the sound off. The track layout didn't help them really. It was too tight which meant a procession which is hardly going to showcase much racing.
That crash at the end though. Prost just chopped him and that's the second time now those sausage kerbs have launched someone dangerously in to the air. Heidfeld wasn't far off going over the barrier. Mind you there didn't seem to be any danger of hitting spectators as there weren't any there.

Re: Formula E
Nicolas Prost has been given a 10-place grid penalty for the next round of the Formula E Championship following his accident with Nick Heidfeld in the series opener in Beijing.
Prost, who had led the majority of the race in his e.dams Spark-Renault SRT_01E electric racer, was penalised for "causing an accident" with Heidfeld's Venturi entry, which flew into the barriers at the final corner after they tangled on the last lap.

Re: Formula E
It was the crash the series needed to have.
Having been calmly excited for this series, I was disappointed after watching footage of the Donnington test as the cars seemed to lack speed.
I love the concept of what e-racing can bring to the table and to be honest, I figured that a class extension of WEC would be where we would see our first taste. However, open wheel is the chosen path and I was as excited as I was for A1GP.
After watching the qually races for Sandown yesterday afternoon I settled in for a power nap on the couch as I had concerns I might fall asleep during the e-prix. I woke up just before 5.30 and took in the whole pre race spectacle as well as the race itself. Interesting how this series is a 1 day event. Must take ages to set up a city circuit and its all for 1 day of racing.
Take away the last corner "wow" moment. The race itself I enjoyed. I could see signs of slowness on the straights but was impressed with the racing spectacle. As Kev said, it was like watching F3 with the sound down. The grid was full of names that we have heard of. You don't need to be old to be an F1 has been and the grid showed. I was even impressed with how they work the pitstops.
For me, 7/10. For those that play the detractor/promoter game in their workplace, 7 is a neutral. I had expectations that were met and as a consumer, I would and should expect nothing less.
The crash they had to have was epic. Prost should have been stood down for the next race to show them that this type of driving is not to be tolerated. A death in the first event would not have looked good but as it turned out, it shows they are lucky or have built a strong car. I think both and that's why the frog twat should sit and watch the next event.

They are getting all lovey over twitter... Seems they have made up, and Prost looks to be pretty embarrassed. No idea what he was doing.

Re: Formula E
I thought the race was ok. Better than I expected. There was a fair bit of overtaking, but the track was too tight. Could have done with a couple quicker corners.
Didn't find out what happened to Senna. At first I thought his wheel had broken on the curb but sounded like maybe Sato squeezed him into the wall earlier than that? Surely in 2014 they can have onboard cameras on all cars to show what happened. Didn't hear of anyone using their fan boost either.
Stupid from Prost in the last corner. Alain must have been wondering if Senna was really the father

Takes the Indy cars only an extra 10 seconds to go a further 1.1k around the tightest extra 5 corners...
Nice to see Dario doing the commentary...

Re: Formula E
I'm sorry but this shit just doesn't excite me & probably won't for a few more years until they are much quicker.
Did I also hear that they don't have to run a gearbox as of next year?

With all these kids of famous drivers and oldies, it looks like a grid of has beens and never beens.

The interesting bit is some used gears while others didn't. They're quicker now too.
