Race 07
Any thoughts on this title?
I've just been playing with the beta here at work a bit and it seems pretty good, though uncontrollable with keyboard.
And friggan FP has his own car!!! A Radical, surprisingly not hot pink.

Haha. I scored one of the Caterhams in the addon for the original Race. Any more RSC admins make it into this title?
The original Race was the first major sim in years that I haven't bought. Tried it out with the Steam trial one weekend and thought it was crap. Physics were lifeless, graphics were dark and dull and the dumbed down ISI UI was a bit frustrating. I know they did change some things later on with that title but even having myself as one of the drivers in the Caterham expansion couldn't make me buy it!
I'm mainly looking forward to the F3000s in Race 07. It'll be the first title in years with an official open wheeler series. Radical could be a bit of fun too though. I think I'll still reserve judgement until I've tried a demo and waited on general opinion before buying.

It's legit GT, an upcoming title for work. Didn't look at it long because as I said it's uncontrollable with keyboard.
I also noticed Huttu in there. I think the whole Radical Series and possibly others is composed of Simmers, I'd have to look again.
It's not dark Mick, but certainly looks a bit dated in comparison with TDU. The UI is actually impressive.
I think Steam is only needed for online play and if you're only playing offline you don't even need to install it. I'd have to confirm that though.

google leads to a swedish site for demo d/l apparently...
http://www.vgp.se/instructions.do
edit: yep, it had the installer on the page, dowloading it via steam right now...
Interestingly it refers to it as "virtual grand prix" ... or is it another game?
Edit2: ah. virtual grand prix is the swedish event based on the game. only 2 WTCC cars and 1 track (brands hatch) are unlocked. wish there was a way to peek into the rest...

A couple of sites have had it. Maybe got overseas copies - http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au were one that had it in stock the other day. I'm just going to grab it off steam I think.

Re: Race 07
So.... A few months on from the release, and does anybody have any more thoughts? Is it worth purchasing? Good online play? Or is it a bit of a dud?

Definitely not dud for us at xgn, the league is getting along nicely, 14 turned up to race yesternight. I'm only playing this sim atm, and I'd say it's the best of these sims so far.thornz wrote:So.... A few months on from the release, and does anybody have any more thoughts? Is it worth purchasing?
