Flightradar24 data still has them just under 35,000 feet along Antarctica, so it looks like they were super lucky and had clear skies.

Yeah that flight would have been amazing. QF63 to Joberg has a similar path and occasionally spots icebergs and land as it skirts Antarctica. I've done that flight several times but never quite spotted ice.

Wow, I didn't now they were doing this. Not a lot of options if there's a problem
My uncle's done the Perth-London flight. He said it's not particularly pleasant and basically a case of gritting your teeth and enduring it. He's done it twice though so it can't be that bad
