I have waaaaaay too many locked behind glass so my kids dont trash them.
Im currently working on a McLaren MP4/4 & MP4/5B kits.

From memory. A fair few of these are die cast kits but my favs are kits.

Die Cast Models
Ferrari 312 1:18th
Ferrari 312T5 1:18th
Mazda RX7 (1985 Slick 50 & Peter Styvants) 1:18th
Holden VK Commodore (Brock's) 1:18th
Lotus 98T 1:18th
Red Bull RB6 1:18th
Holden V8SC's (SCA, HRT and Lowndes 1st Championship) 1:18ths
Senna Helmet 1:2 scale
Webber Helmet 1:2 scale

Kits
Williams FW14B 1:10th
McLaren MP4/4 1:24th
McLaren MP4/5B 1:24th
Ferrari 312T 1:10th
Mazda 787B 1991 1:24th
Mazda Rx3 1:24th

Had to stop my addiction as ive run out of cabinet space and I dont want my kids to trash them.
Got a few broken ones in a box stashed away. Benetton B192 & B195, Lotus 49 and a working Rortay Engine :(

EDIT: Just happened to have a pic of my cabinet on my phone. The Fw14B only just squeeks into the cabinet but the Ferrari has to live in the dust ontop.

If anyone is looking to build a kit, I have a Sauber C9 and a Peugeot C905 EV1 for the 1:24 sports car fans

and 4 indy cars. 1 if which is a 1:20 Tamiya "Snap Loc". terrific kit which I built 1 of but never did the other.

I wouldn't mind the 1:24's.....

I'll shoot ya a pm.
Arrived today!

I wasn't expecting any deliveries, especially from the little island down south.
Now which to build first?

Much appreciated Stu!

I have a 1/20 Tamiya Mclaren MP-4 13 and I'm thinking of doing it in Mclaren's Orange they use to use for testing. It's really shitty here of late, like 10C and misty so I don't think I'll start till it warms up again.

Here's a pic I found but I might try to hunt down some rain tyres for mine.

I've got that kit waiting to be built too.

The orange was awesome - a shame they never raced in it. That one's been detailed up a bit too.

I would like the build the odd scale model or two. I'm interested in the modern era of Formula 1. Where is the best place to buy such kits?

How modern are you after Gizmo - try Hobby HQ as they have the best range of Tamiya stuff.

http://www.hobbyhq.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Both sites are run by the same guy. There is a fairly recent Red Bull kit available which is probably your best bet.

The Tamiya F1 kits are really good. The fit and quality are good right from the box and they are perfect for detailing.

Thank's for the links. I'd like to build a couple of cars from the late 90's onwards. Most around the mid 2000's until now. Seems there are plenty of older cars around but not many newer ones.

Tamiya did some Ferraris of that era, whilst Revell did some 1:24 cars. Off the top of my head there was a Jordan, a Sauber and a McLaren. Of course there is always Studio 27 and the like which do multimedia kits but they are much more expensive.

So i 'Finished' (or butchered) a kit I have been working on for a couple of weeks now.

Unfortunately the paint job isn't a good as I would like, somehow the parts aren't quite fitting well, and no matter what I did the wheel centres would not take the colour, but still i'm happy with it.

I still have 6 more kits to finish. I have a Tyrellel that just needs the transfers done, and a BMW Sauber needing assembly. Then I get to start on my Senna Kart kits :D

Have that Lotus in my stash to.
At a guess for the paint on the wheels - it was too thick but that's only a guess. Yellow is always a colour I have trouble with to.

This might interest some of you:

I haven't built kits since I was a teenager. I tried again a couple of years ago in an attempt to retrain my arthritic thumbs but it didn't work. I simply can't do it any more. For the same reason, I can't play guitar any more either.

Yep Yellow is a biatch... Did you do a white undercoat? As it's a must do when working with yellow?

Yeah but having seen a Napier Sabre up close, the engine is pretty questionable... Someone will probably do a resin one sooner or later.

No doubt they will but I think the standard kit engine is more than usable.

good god!

I've got all these diecast cars on pre-order, but having realised I could have a bit larger scale of the same iconic cars from a model like these, it's almost like enlightement.

It's starting to warm up here now so I need to get a little compressor and knock up a little paint booth. Have a crack at the Mclaren I have. Will be good to get back into it after years away. I will build a 956 and an F-4 Phantom II G wild weasel.
