Selling my Galaxy S - reset?
Chaps
Using the Galaxy Tab and my work Blackberry pretty much exclusively, so my Galaxy S is surplus to requirements. To prepare it for sale, is a hard reset all I need to do?

If your leaving the memory card on board you'd want to format that as well as the hard reset which will delete your data

I dunno, pretty easy to recover info these days... id find a prog to write over the memory card multiple times. Depends how paranoid you are i guess.

Hence my "I your leaving it" comment, best to just take it out and replace it and move that one to your phones if they'll take itDexterPunk wrote:I dunno, pretty easy to recover info these days... id find a prog to write over the memory card multiple times. Depends how paranoid you are i guess.

Yeah, I just meant that a format won't stop someone recovering info. Not unless you completely write over it several times... There's progs around that do that. But yeah, may be easier to replace it, or just sell it without.
The same goes for the phone itself though. If you're worried about someone getting info off your phone you may have to do something similar to the phones internal memory as well. Which may be a bit tricky since it needs some software on it to run. I'm not sure how 'safe' selling a used phone is really. You'd have to be pretty damn unlucky for someone to pull info off it and use it against you anyway.

I wouldnt worry too much, Just pull it out and format it in your PC using a card reader and http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If your REALLY worried, just change the parition type from FAT32 to NTFS and copy a few movies over the top.. then format again.

Dunno Pix - I hadn't got to the stage of thinking about a price. I guess $200 would be alright for it?
