That's why I love the Giro, so raw and grity, nothing like the polish if the TdF...norbs wrote:Well that was a stage and a half. 262 kms and all sorts of madness!
Things like this have happened in the past but what a shake up. Stupid Astana not taking up the chase, expecting other teams to do so, hey guys you have the Maglia Rosa it's your job to defend it come hell & high water. Speaking of water how friggin wet has it been, glad I am not riding in that crap.
Fancy letting Team Sky, Cervelo Test Team & Saxo get away like that & with their best riders. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!
If Evans wins this from here it would be the ride of the year and would probably cement him as the greatest wearer of the WC jersey.
As much as I want Richie (Porte) to won it, I think doing it in your 1st GT would be unlikely.
So I think it is down to David Arroyo, Sastre or Wiggo at this stage but the last week is sure to shake it up again.

Watching a feed last night, the Vino/Evans group kept looking at each other as if they wanted someone to make a decision. The leading group just took off and no one in the main group did anything til it was too late. I heard Astana saying they didn't hear the times until the gap was 8 minutes, but even then you would have thought the Vino/Evans group would have got out of the saddle and went like cut cats. It didn't happen. It was all very confusing.
I have since read that Astana had a stomach bug go through the camp.
If you were in the group with Evans and Vino and you heard the gap was 8 minutes, wouldn't you be starting to worry?
My money is on old droopy faced Sastre.

Re: Giro 2010
Ah interesting, my take is that there was no way Cadel would have he made that break without dragging Astana with him.
I reckon a few of the teams were happy to let Astana fall on their sword, no way Vino is going to be allowed to win this even the crowd hate him, booing him on the course.

Got sent this today: http://www.podiumcafe.com/2010/5/20/1479993/giro-loco" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It is worth the read as it gives a great insight into what happened the other day.
