It's going to be VERY hard to get a win today but the eternal optimist in me is clinging on hoping we can snatch a win.

Either way it's really showed why test cricket and the ashes is still the pinnacle of cricket. Fantastic match.

Yay :)
Still getting quite tight though. 3 wickets or 100 runs. Take your pick.

Looks like the mother country will take the prize..but at 3 for 160 odd to be where we are now shows the brittleness of our middle order which has cost us this test.

Note - If we lose by the extra runs Broad got after that howler..Darr should be shot...

Yeah I was just thinking that. Stupid decision to keep broad in could have been the deciding factor...

ONLY in test cricket would the players retire for tea and sandwiches when on the verge of arguably the greatest test in history! LOVE IT!

Hmmm..Thanks Alim..Broad clearly out on 37, made 65...could have been the difference...

Review system needs to have an override for teh 3rd umpire...who can overrule a terrible call like that one...Aussies also need to use their reviews more wisely...

Well done the English, a great contest, lets hope the whole series follows that game.

Did look out from the reviews.

In the case of Broad though, why doesn't it have a system like tennis. Which works well. Yes you only have a few reviews, but you also have a chair umpire that says, hangon, that's rubbish the ball was out. Why if we have the tech can't an overrule be made if its clear its out or in, even without enogh reviews?

Unlucky.
I think the Aussies had done enough to deserve the win to be honest. Looked dead and buried at the end of the first innings and ended up leading by 70-odd. Then again looked out of it and clung on, digging the runs out. Good effort to get that close to victory.

But it was definitely out at the end.

Look forward to the next one on thursday.

I think DRS killed the end to a good game. If it had been an umpire call with no reviews left then fair enough. DRS does kill the game and it should be a tool for umpires only.

Great game of cricket.

Surprised more hasn't been made of Haddin hanging his bat out like that.

I hate that DRS is a player tool, like it's a part of the game. It's not a part of the game, it should be a tool for the umpires to use if they are unsure of a decision.

Great first game and awesome that the Aussies took it up to them. Would have been a different story if not for Agar though, we need some batsmen to fire if we're going to be any chance.

You're right Norbs, surprised Haddins non shot wasn't talked about more, was terrible but he probably should have been out earlier.

Well this test hasn't started well!

3 wickets in 11 balls :(

England currently 33-3. Let's hope someone can hold the fort for a while and give you something to bat at.

Ill tell you what I liked. Smart use of the DRS by England. Sure they lost the one they did review but it was awful close. I bet that if Australia had been batting and copped the Cook delivery they would have reviewed it and lost that too. Well played England
