Just watched that over the weekend as well, thought it was pretty bad as well.

Whats the point of the birds in the box if you arent going to use them to your advantage? The 'monster' cant actually hurt you unless you look at it. So couldnt you have the birds and not worry about a blindfold until they alert you? Otherwise there is zero point in having the birds with you?

Mindhorn. Good.

By Julian Barrat from The Boosh and it's a similar style of comedy. He's a washed up actor who has to play his former role as a detective for a serial killer.

Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Good.

Collection of short stories about the old west all in different styles. One of them goes on for a bit long, but overall it's a thumbs up.

Mystery Science Theater 3000. Good.

An enjoyable way to watch shit movies. I liked the 2 new seasons on netflix. Watched some of the older episodes and couldn't get into them, but it depends a lot on the movie they're doing.

I saw Captain Marvel today and I really enjoyed it.

So without ruining it, I knew a little of the character from comics and a Marvel game but not too much. I knew she was a tough nut but the story wondered around a bit explaining stuff but by the end I was on board. Goose the cat was the star of the show and I'll just leave it like that.

Seen quite a few films recently but not many stand outs:
Avengers: Infinity War
I've only watched a handful of these so some bits of this went right over my head but considering the scale and the sheer number of characters, it's incredibly well done. Really enjoyed it.

22 July
A film about the Norway terror attacks where a bomb was set off in Oslo then 77 people (almost all kids) were shot dead on an island. We put off watching this for a while because it sort of feels wrong to watch a film about something so horrific, but it's done respectfully and does have a point. A lot of it is around the questions of how a civilised country responds to such a barbaric act.

Game Night
Flicking through my list, it took me a moment to remember whether or not I'd watched this. I have, and it's pretty bad.

Coco
I'm a massive fan of Pixar but have to admit they went off the boil a bit in recent years. But this is right up there, and their best for years I reckon.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
This was on telly last night so I got sucked into it. I still think it's superb. It's one of the best Hollywood blockbusters I've seen.

The Marvel movies are great Durbs. There's a lot of them now and the do tie into releases such as Infinity War. Well worth watching all of them.

Yep I have thoroughly enjoyed all the MCU movies, some are better than others but all are worth watching.

I waited till our kids were old enough then we binged How to watch every Marvel movie and TV show in the perfect order

The only TV shows we bothered with was Agent Carter & Agents of Shield both are OK but not nesecary being spin off stories.

Blazing Saddles.

Haven't seen it for years and I was amazed it was allowed on TV uncut considering the language but it was great :)

Ready Player One
Ugh, this was a hard average. One of those films where you're bombarded with special effects doing amazing things and yet is somehow completely boring.

The main problem I had is that I can't work out who it's for. It feels like a kids film but most of the imagery is from my generation, and it's inexplicably got lots of swearing in it which made my 8 year old uncomfortable.

I can't help but think Spielberg got to the point a few years ago where people were so in awe of him that they just won't tell him when his ideas are a bit shit.

Yeah, we watched it on the weekend too and my reaction was very similar.

It's drastically different to the book, and my comment part way through was that it seem to be having difficulty in deciding whether it wanted to try to be a serious sci-fi thriller, or Spy Kids 7.

Just watched John Wick III in the cinema. They keep getting better :)

:guns: :nk: :matrix:

Finished all the Bond movies as well. Only ones I didn't like were the Lazenby one and one from 83 with a way too old Connery, who just comes across as a creep. Roger Moore, best suave Bond. Daniel Craig, best spy bond.

You might like a podcast series I've just finished listening to called 'Now Playing_ The James Bond Movie Retrospective Series' where they went through all of the Bond films up to Spectre. They have a regular one called 'Now Playing' where they do lots of other films too.

Family (sans Bob) watched The Matrix on Stan on the weekend. It stands up pretty well and it was neat recognising all the Sydney settings (I saw parts of it being filmed).

"I am mother" on Netflix.

It's an Australian scifi thing that seems to have a good starting position, trying to look at what to do with the self-destructive humanity.
But it is not coherent, full of gaping logical holes, in fact most of the story is just a big "why?" and does not provide any kind of answer.

Save your 2 hrs and watch something fun.

I saw the new Spiderman film last night.

Not bad I guess. Usual CGI-fest stuff for 2 hours. I hadn't seen any of the ones with this spiderman actor in, only the Toby McGuire ones. Think I prefer the original 3.

First Man
Very good. The cinematography on the 'action' sequences was quite extraordinary.
I think they portrayed him to be a little more distant and clinical than he really was but it's a great biopic.

I watched Free Solo on the plane the other day. It's an interesting documentary about Alex Honnold climbing El Capitan without any ropes or assistance. Bonkers.

I really enjoyed it.
