I sat by my window for a while waiting for the birdies to come to the feeder. This is just an 18-55mm canon kit lens and me sitting about 2ft from the feeder outside the window. Very impressed by the resolution, despite my poor photo skillz so far

Good effort, Kev. I've never even tried photographing birds, because I reckon it would be pretty tough to catch them cleanly.
A word of advice, when photographing animals always try and make sure the eye is in focus (i.e. make it your focus point). The reason the third pic is the most arresting is because of that. It's tough to do with such a small target though!
I took a trip up to Rally Qld (a round of the Asia-Pacific rally championship) last weekend, just for a day, and grabbed some happy snaps from the spectator point:

Re: Your cool photos.
Yeah I was quite pleased with those. They're speedy little buggers! I think focussing on the eyes is easy if you have bigger static birds like eagles and owls at displays but these fellas are only 5cm long and nervous as hell that they'll get eatenVTRacing wrote:Good effort, Kev. Nice rally shots VT! I would love to get shooting some loose stuff like that as we generally dont get stuff here thats as loose as that so you can get that much dust being thrown up.

I took my first ever trip to a motorbike road race today the prestigous Northwest 200. Unfortunately due to a series of incidents only one race was ran in it's full length so the shots are a bit one corner heavy due to that but I hope to get to a few more to try some different things.

Re: Your cool photos.
For #7 you have to think of it as the road lines drawing your eye naturally to the rider then the riders gaze to the apex in the top left draws you deeper into the image and around the corner!

Re: Your cool photos.
Great panorama Knappo, especially from a phone in those conditions ...
Kev, yours is almost surreal in a sci-fi kind of way ...
I was bored around the house today, and realised I haven't really taken many pictures in a little while. Nothing much, just playing around with bits of light in the garden door area ...
